Danau jetty was the only way to access from Danau to Penabai by ferry before the two bridges over Sungai Tutong and Sungai Telamba were built. This jetty was used until 1958 after Jalan Tutong was built to connecting from Brunei/Tutong to Kuala Belait and Seria.

In 1958, in fact on Christmas Day on that year, the Jalan Tutong connecting the three districts of Brunei was finally opened.

Chee Kin & Maymay Wedding

01.01.2011, first day of 2011 with an unusual wedding ceremony at Kuala Lumpur. This wedding ceremoney was invited by Maymay since Jan 2010. What so special about this wedding? Other than the wedding event was on first day of 2011, the groom and bride are from 2 different places where Chee Kin is from Kuala Lumpur and Maymay is from Hong kong.

I felt quite unusual because this was my first time to attend a wedding ceremony at church and i was shocked after i arrived church in the morning because there were many guests from different countries. Maymay's "face" is so big~ :p

New Year 2011 Trip

Its been 3 years didnt went to KL after graduation. This New Year Eve celebration, here i came, a 5 days 4 nights trip from 29th Dec 2010 to 3rd Jan 2011 with Shenton, Chris and Liz. The destination of this trip included Genting Highland, KL for new year countdown, attend a friend wedding and Melacca for photoshooted.

Day 1 (29th Dec 2010)
After arrived LCCT, we took a bus to KL Sentral and from there we took a cab to Genting Highland.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival which is a popular harvest festival celebrated by Chinese dating back over 3,000 years to moon worship in China's Shang Dynasty. It is also sometimes referred to as the Lantern Festival or Mooncake Festival. The Mid-Autumn Festival is held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese calendar, which is usually around late September or early October in the Gregorian calendar. It is a date that parallels the autumnal equinox of the solar calendar, when the moon is supposedly at its fullest and roundest. The traditional food of this festival is the mooncake, of which there are many different varieties.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the few most important holidays in the Chinese calendar. Traditionally on this day, Chinese family members and friends will gather to admire the bright mid-autumn harvest moon, and eat moon cakes under the moon together.

Origin Of Tasek Merinbum

Tasek Merimbun is probably one of the more internationally known park in Brunei. It is the only one in the country to be declared an ASEAN National Heritage Site way back in 1984. The park has a total area of about 8,000 hectares. Two rivers flowed through to the lake named Sungai Meluncur and Sungai Bang Oncom.

How does Merimbun gets its name? According to sources, Merimbun has been inhabited by the Dusun people more than a few hundred years ago. The Dusuns said that the area was discovered by someone named Imbun said to be the son of a Ketua Kampung from Merangking in Ulu Belait. It is said that while hunting, he reached this beautiful lake. He discovered that the place had plenty of food - fish in the lake and wild animals in the nearby forest. He brought his family and several of his fellow villagers followed suit to build a new home there. Over time, the Tasek and its surrounding area is called Tasek Merimbun, as a tribute to the founder, Imbun.

However, another version of how the name Merimbun is derived is also interesting. It is said that after the area was settled by the Dusun people, traders would come to bring goods to the area. One such trader was a Chinese man named Eng Boon. It is said that eventually the name Merimbun came from this Eng Boon.

Well, we came here for a model shooting with Yumi as a i posted before and i took some random shot for HDR version for the beauty of Tasek Merimbun.

Here we came finally, Kuraman Island after planned for few months. It is an island that lies somewhere between Brunei and Malaysia water and it is a small tropical island belonging to Malaysia which located off the coast of Federal Territory of Labuan and it is protected as part of the Labuan marine park today.

Kuraman Island is with an total area of 5.2 square kilometers and was the site of second lighthouse built in 1902 to guide commercial ships entering Victoria harbour (Labuan harbour). It was one of the four structures that survived the heavy bombardments of the Allied Forces during World War II.

We had our lunch at Muara town in the early morning before we off to the islands. We gathered at Muara port at 9am and departed at 9.30am. It took around half an hour boat ride to arrive our destination. We do our own activity after we arrived there like snorkeling, sight seeing and photo shooting.

Around 11.30am, we had a BBQ over there and back to Muara port was around 3pm. The trip was nice and enjoyed.

We can see a blur image of Labuan from Kuraman Island. In fact, its very nice to Labuan.

Attended a Simple Touch Basic-Intermidiate Photography Workshop at Miri which organised by MYAC and conducted by Ruddie Khaw who is a professional photogrpaher from Penang. The Class was started from 1pm to 9pm and served with afternoon tea break and dinner. After went through those basic theory, a practical for us was model shot at swimming pool. Time seem like passed very fast, a 2 weeks pasar malam (perayaan) came to an end. Today is the last day so decided to go Bandar Seri Begawan take some night light photo. If not have to wait for another year.

Get to shoot many night view of Bandar Seri Begawan at PGGMB building. I was so surprised that the security brought us to 17th floor after he know we wanted to take photo. I think it's the tallest building in Bandar Seri Begawan. Actually the night view of Bandar Seri Begawan is not bad also.

Was having this photoshoot together with Azlan at KB for a car model shoot. The talent was Jane (Mary Jane by Azlan) and the sport car was Mazda RX 8. The shooting was start from 9.30am to 12pm noon time. We tried to do it quick because it was a hot weather that day but for us it was a good news. Pity the model only.

I just had little times to do simple touch on those photos at night time so it was late to post at blog here. Not little time, can say no time because 1 night only touch up one photo.

Another fireworks showed at Taman Jubilee, Kiulap last night in conjunction to celebrated His Majesty's 64Th Birthday. The firework showed at 8.30pm and last for 15 Min's. Tonight i went to shoot firework together with Vivian and it was my first time outing her as well. When we on our way to Bandar Seri Begawan, we saw a lot of peoples were waiting to see firework at roadside from Kiulap area to Bandar area. It was so traffic jammed since "pasar malam" are available for this 2 weeks.

After finished took some shot of firework, I tried to take a panorama night view of Bandar Seri Begawan. Photo will post later on. Then went to "pasar malam" to see around and bought a cup of coconut water before went home.

Selamat Hari Keputeraan Kebawah Duli Tuan Patik. Happy 64th Birthday to His Majesty The Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

When i arrived Taman Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien at 7.30am, i saw there were full of peoples included local residents and tourists to witness the parade marking the 64th birthday of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

His Majesty walks to inspects an honour guard from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Royal Brunei Police Force, Royal Brunei Air Force, Royal Brunei Navy, Royal Brunei Armed Forces Bands and Departments of Royal Customs and Excise, Prisons, and Immigration and National Registration as well as organisations such as Red Crescent, Girl Guides and National Scout Association.

500 uniformed officers marched forward to pay their respects to His Majesty.

A 21-gun salute was fired in honour of the national anthem. At the same time, a rumble in the sky saw a fly-by of helicopters leaving a trail of coloured smokes.

At the night time around 10 pm, fireworks were display at Istana Nurul Iman.

KK Short Trip

This was my second time to visit Kota kinabalu (KK) with plenty of time to sight seeing, photo shooting and shopping. This was also my first time out for vacation after my first visited to KK on January 2010. After being busy of worked for the past half year, this trip was a really good chance for me to take a break. This trip was a very good memory after all. I arrived KK at 6.30pm on the first day so nothing much to say about first day night time so my trip basically was started on the second day till last day.

Day 2
Morning, visited Manukan Island.
Got to Jesselton Jetty to get a boat ride to Manukan Island which takes around 15 minutes. Among all the water sports, i only tried the para sailing at there. Manukan is the second largest island of Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine National Park. For the avid diver, the reefs at Manukan Island offer excellent crystal water and beautiful corals. For those who want to enjoy the scenery, take a leisurely visit the long stretch of beautiful beach.

A lots of water sports where you can enjoy like banana boat, jet ski, snorkeling and para sailing but i only tried para sailing.

Jesselton Jetty

I think dinner at here would be very nice with the view of sunset. For couples would be very romantic but unfortunately i didn't get to see it.

Day 2

Afternoon, visited Kota Klias.

After back from Manukan Island was around 12pm noon time. Just took a shower and made a quick moved then joined a local land tour to visited a place named Kota Klias where also known as wet land which took around 2 hours drive to arrived there from KK. It is situated in the countryside, far away from the hustle and bustle of the KK city.

On arriving, we walking into a traditional native village setting with a huge grass compound.

There are many different types of 'Kampong' houses, built on stilts with bamboo walls and thatched palm leaf roofs(atap) including a large dinning lounge over the river. We were served with some tea and local deserts before we started for our sight seeing.

We were told that at this wet land area, you can see Proboscis Monkey and Macaque monkey and Leaf Monkey. Other than that, you can see fruits bat, buffy fish owl, small snakes wild boars during a clear night but i only able to see those monkeys only.

We had our dinner at the dining lounge after we sight seeing those monkeys. After that, the night cruise brought us to see fireflies, their flashing of light was brightly just like a Christmas trees, it is absolutely amazing and beautiful.

A lot of tourists visited this wet land. For me, Its nothing special as i can see proboscic monkey at our KG Ayer but i found the fireflies is really amazing.

Day 3

Morning, visited Kinabalu Park.

After had our breakfast, took a 2 hours drive from KK to Kinabalu park which is around 1000 meters height. We dropped by Desa Milk Farm for a while to see cows after that before we proceed our journey to hot spring area. At hot spring area, we visited a butterfly farm and a canopy walk. I still prefer Temburong's canopy walk as it can see the clear view of image.

We stopped by Ranau for a break before proceed to Kinabalu park.

Bunga Raya, a name in Malay, Its call Hibiscus rosa-sinensis is the national flower of Malaysia. Introduced into the Malay Peninsula in the 12Th Century, it was nominated as the national flower in the year 1958 by the Ministry of Agriculture. On 28 July 1960, it was declared by the government of Malaysia that the hibiscus would be the national flower.

After took a long walked upward a mountain then walk a across the canopy walk, i was sweating like hell, feel like after having a 1 hour sport.

Day 4

Finally can did shopping at KK town and sight seeing. The past 2 days were so tired and travel with long hours journey.

Morning, Visit a KK dry market (tamu) and shopping for the last few hours before check out from hotel and proceed to airport.

What is this call or any history behind it? I only know its something that symbolise of Sabah.

First photo for July, We call this "Arca" which is located at KB. This monument was built for the celebration of His Majesty 50 years old birthday in 1996. This was my first time to visit this place as well. After finished worked and was very last minute to gave Alan a called to do some candid outing at KB tamu and here. My first time tried model shooting at outdoor. After a discussion with the Janet (the model), we choose Empire hotel to be the location and the theme is provide a holiday feel. We start the shooting at 3.30pm and finished at 6pm. She brought 4 sets of dress and 1 set of gown to Empire hotel but unfortunately the weather was so hot and ended up we only able to shoot for 3 sets of dress only. So the elegant theme shooting will make it in the future. Do really appreciate this chance. Thanks Janet~

Back to last 2 weeks, Chris asked me try to take some shoot on sunrise and he will do video recording on sunrise. Without any hesitate, i agreed with him since i never take any sunrise photo before.

We decided to take action on this Sunday 20.06.2010 because the night before Sunday, we were celebrated Shenton xx years old birthday at Sylvester's house. After the celebration, it was 10pm only and we had 8 hours to wait. What to do? We just watched Fifa World Cup 2010 till 2.30am and every ones looked tired and went home. Sylvester looked like kicked us out from his house? That time i was still at his house but he cant saw me and sent me message written with "locked the door and switch off the lights before you leave". Who know that time he already on the bed. So no choice, me and Chris went to Zuki, Seria continued another matched till 4.30am. At 5am, we proceed to Sg. Bera Highway and waited for the sunrise. That time was around 5.30am, i was already felt half asleep.

Around 5.45am, we started to see some sunlight appeared and we were starting busy with our activities where i took photo and Chris did his video recording. Around 7.15am onward, the sky already bright and look nothing special anymore. We left after that and i only wished i could arrived home as soon as possible. One tried is enough, i don't think i will take sunrise landscape so soon unless some other special case. Even it was very tired but then by seeing the outcome, its really worth.

I created 2 panorama for the Rice Dumpling Festival. I think i used around 20 photos all together to combine it. Both photos seem like very small because original size is too wide. For clearer photos can see at my facebook.

Here are some snap shots for yesterday Rice Dumpling Festival at Seria Beach. I was arrived there around 5.30pm and left at 6.30pm when it was about to rain. Met a lots of old old friends at there and of course, get to know some photographer as well.

It did to attract a of Chinese went to the beach in order to celebrate Rice Dumpling Festival. Those peoples were families, couples and teenagers as well. Families brought along with their children and play with water while couples were dating and teenager doing what? i think try to know more friends?

My first time saw 2 rainbow appeared in the same time.

The weather for yesterday was pretty good and this is how the sunlight reflected. I actually like this picture very much.

Rice Dumpling Festival 2010

This year, Rice Dumpling Festival fall on today, 16.06.2010. In Brunei, Chinese do remember to celebrate this festival but without Dragon boat racing unlike other countries. I think our parents always tells us that we have to eat dumpling and throw dumpling into the sea in order to celebrate this festival. Actually for nowadays we don't throw any dumpling into the sea anymore, we just go to beach for sightseeing and hang out only.

With the popularity of DSLR today, we don't miss this chance to take some random or candid photo as well and of course, never forget to take sunset picture. This evening after worked around 5.30 pm, i went to Seria beach at Billionth barrel monument. By the time i arrived there, it were so many peoples there already and weather was good and reflect a nice sunset. Today's outcome will be post soon...

What's the story behind this festival?
Well, there was a Chinese named Qu Yuan, a patriotic poet who serve the emperor in Chu Kingdom in ancient China. He was a good minister and well loved by the resident. However, those bad court officers were jealous of Qu Yuan's abilities and they succussfully influenced the weak mined emperor to dismiss and suspended him. Qu Yuan was very angry and disheartened so he tied himself to a rock and jumped into the Mi Luo river in Hunan province in order to protest against injustice and corruption.

When the people get to know of his death, they rowed their boats to the river to look for his body but unfortunately they failed to find his body so they started beating their drums and making loud noises in the river hoping to scare the fishes and sea creatures away so that they will not be able to eat his body. Others started making rice dumplings to throw into the river believing that the sea creatures and fishes will eat their dumplings instead of Qu Yuan's body.Since then, the 5Th May in Chinese lunar calendar was set as Rice Dumpling Festival, in other hand to remember the incident. So, this is how Rice Dumpling festival and Dragon Boat Festival created then.

Today, its also known as Dragon Boat Festival too. In China, Hong kong, Macau and Taiwan is the official public holiday where peoples make celebrations includes eating the rice dumpling zongzi, drinking real gar wine, and racing dragon boats.

端午節裏，流傳著吃粽子和賽龍舟的習俗，據說為了紀念愛國詩人屈原是戰國時代楚國的忠臣，卻被奸臣陷害，報國無門，只能暗自憂心後，在農曆五月五日( 端午節 )這天，投江自盡。人民都紛紛划船去拯救他，這就是端午節划龍舟的起源。人民又有感於他的忠誠國，恐怕他被大魚吃了，就用竹筒裝了糯米，做成粽子，拋入江裏，希望魚兒只吃粽子，不吃屈原，後來改用竹葉包粽子，在端午時吃用，以為紀念屈原。

Tonight, i am going to post my first HDR photo out which i feel satisfied after i had tried to generated so many times before. This afternoon after lunch with my gang at Sg. Liang "kopitiam" then feel nothing to do, so made a moved to Luagan Lalak, Labi to have a look and take some photo since its not far from our location, just around 10 Min's drive. But unfortunately only few photos were taken due to raining. After that, we were talking under the shelter meanwhile waiting for the rain to stop. Most probably will go there again to take more photos of this Recreational Park.

A requested made in April by Audry in order to bring her visits Brunei's those interesting places. However we made in June, 2 months later (better than nothing la...). Back to last night, after we finished the Expression's Leap of Creation Concert, we overnight at Shenton's house, somewhere in Beribi.

Then the next early morning, (not very early also, around 9.30am?) not started our journey but had our breakfast at Gadong first, there we gathered with Audry and her friends. My side here got 4 person who were Chris, Shenton and Sylvester and me. Audry side had 4 person as well.

After breakfast, our first visited was Jame Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque followed by Royal Regalia, Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque, Brunei Museum, Sultan Bolkiah Tombstone (my first time)and Kg. Ayer. After Kg, Ayer, it was around 6.30pm already, we went to Yayasan shopping complex a while, then Audry introduced us a nice dinner which is an Arab crusine, somewhere at Kiulap next to Japan embassy. Was too tired and hungry so none of Arab food's photo had taken.

Overall, i would say this trip is nice, learned and discovered many new things at Brunei Museum Royal Regalia and Kg. Ayer as well. My first time visits those places with so enjoy and relax where i had more time to read and go through everythings.

Groups photo by water taxi driver. So surprise met this water taxi driver back after i got a ride on his boat in Febuary 2010. Today when i was about to ask for a boat ride and i noticed someone was shouting at me then i realise it was this driver again so i saved his no. again for future reference. Previously i did save his no. but i cant recall his name until i met him back again today.

Again, i don't miss the opportunity to take picture of Proboscis Monkey. This time, i feel satisfy with it after so many shot in the past 1 year. This is my maximum zoom already but if still can reach further, the better. 75-300mm zoom lens still not enough. Sigh~

This small rock Island named "Jong Batu" actually got a legend on it. Maybe many of us ever heard or read during school time. The Story named "Nakhoda Manis" which tells a boy from Kampong Ayer , who went off to sea became sailor and he left his mother behind. The mother prayed everyday for his safety meanwhile, the boy ended up marrying a princess of Malaysia and became the owner of huge ship. One day he came back to Brunei and he was too ashamed of admitting in front of his beautiful and rich wife that a poor and dirty woman who came to see him was his mother. Her mother was shocked and very depressed and placed a curse on her unfilial son whereupon a storm suddenly appeared capsizing the ship and transforming it into rock. What we see from the rock now somehow is the shape of the sunk ship.

Expression's Leap Of Creation Concert

Went to "Jerudong Park Amphitheatre Hall" with friends for a concert, organised by Lily Chiam, Expression Music School. All performances were carried out by the local, local artists and talents. We bought our ticket for B$10, not that expensive also because this concert is for charity as well. The concert is not bad, some part were very cute and funny during the performances by those small kids. The concert finished in about 2 hrs started from 8pm to 10pm.

It was Saturday and weekend again, what to do?Last minute was asked by friends to go padang (KBRC) to take picture. No hesitate to join them since nothing to do. I just noticed there were "tarik kalat" (tug of war) competition over there after i arrived. Been a long time didn't went out for such outdoor activity or function during night time or weekend. Not bad, it was quite interesting and for me, i think a time for me to release stress and pressure as everyday also working and working. After that , we went to "teko", Pandan 5 roundabout took few shot as i thought but end up left at around 1am +...

Went to this Pandan 5 roundabout took some pictures on Saturday night with few friends. KB famous monument? maybe? because we can see this thing whenever we go to KB. We use to call it "Tea Pot" In Mandarin, we call it as "茶壶", also the meaning of "Tea Pot".

This is my first time and my pleasure to join this outing that was organised by "sifu" Mr Han on 09.05.2010. This outing was so great because everyone can get to know new friends and photographer as well. So, it's also a good chance to learn more and improve photography skill from each other.

Sg Teraban "Ketua Kampong" (village head) was very welcome us and gave a short speech follow by "sifu" Mr Han.

Its first day of May and fall to Saturday. What to do in weekend? No function again. Arrive home at 4pm after yam cha with yee chai then didn't felt like to stay at home so decided to go out somewhere nearby to get some random shoot. Went to "Andulau" then saw this, Telesai Lumut new highway/ bypass on going project. Hopefully this project will finish soon, now Sg Liang area every morning and evening also traffic jam.

I did to shoot lots of portrait but i never post it out because i don't think they are nice. When come to portrait this part, i think it's not easy to capture a nice portrait in order to show the face and expression of people because portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image of a person in a still position.

4 Days 3 Nights In Brunei

Last year, i was told that by May May " we are going to visit Brunei next year" time pass so fast and finally they came here but unfortunately end up May May didnt come. Who came here? yea, Cindy, Merry, Joan, Eunice and their mum (aunty). Its a nice memory for me as well when they visited Brunei in 1-4 /04/2010, a 4 days 3 nights trip in Brunei. What to do in Brunei? As usual, visit those mosques, Royal Regalia, Kg. Ayer and sight seeing Seria and Kb etc but this time quite special, i planned to bring them go for Temburong day trip as i never been there before. I would like to say thanks to Slyvester, Liz, Chris and Shenton who join the Temburong trip and help in entertained those HK "leng lui".

Eunice and Aunty arrived Brunei in the second day on 02/04/2010. After we check in to Abdul Razak Apartment, we went to sight seeing and visit Empire Hotel.

Visited the Jame Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque during the night time. Not bad, it was my first time visit during night time. A very nice night view can see at here. After that, Chris, Shenton, Sylvester and Liz join dinner with us at Gadong "Tiam Hock".

Here, the third day, we woke up in the early morning then took a breakfast at Kianggeh before we bought our speed boat ticket to Temburong. The speed boat to Bangar takes around 45 mins.

We arrived Bangar already.

After we arrive Bangar, we took a bus around 20 mins again to a river side.

Here, we arrived a river side and ready to take the long boat to Batang Duri.

Here, we arrived the top of "Canopy Walk" .

Third night sight seeing Omar Ali Saiffudien Mosque for a while before we proceed to Gadong Excapade for dinner. After that, we went to Jerudong Park sight seeing and play "bumper car".

Again, they play with the green light. Previously, they play at NBT during Chinese New Year during the decoration.

Fourth day, after we had our breakfast, then we visit Jame Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque and Royal Regalia.

Around 1.30pm before we check out the apartment and proceed to airport.

Finally, 4 days 3 nights trip in Brunei was over. Hope everyone of you enjoy in Brunei. Hope to see you girls in Hong Kong soon.

Labi Waterfall

Went to one of the Labi waterfall with colleague on 07.03.2010. Woke up at 7.30am :( sunday le but not regret to went for this trip la.Its takes around 1 hours by car from Sg. liang to get there, after we get there, we have to walk along the jungle for around 1 hours before we see the waterfall. Its quite difficult and "ja lat" la~ climb up and down because its totally no road access at all. Anyway, its quite enjoy as can see a lots of things like insects, mushroom or flowers (don't know what name should be given) that never see before.

I visited Kg. Ayer again but this time was at afternoon time on 27.02.2010. The water taxi driver i got this time is very nice and joke all the time and he is a good guide as well. The water taxi driver told me that noon time cant see much Proboscis monkey but we still manage to see some. Unfortunately, i still can't get to shoot the face of Proboscis monkey. Hope the next time can success. Other than Proboscis monkey, I did to take the landscape pictures of Kg. Ayer. Some random pictures are posted here.

10.02.2010 was a special night in fact as i was told to had dinner & gathering at one of our ex- classmate's restaurant named "Pines Restaurant". It's a Japanese cuisine and also with korean menu.

The last trip of 2009, here we go Kota Kinabalu to celebrated new year eve. We drove for around 350Km with 8 hrs to reach Kota Kinabalu from Brunei and pass through 7 custom. Its really nice trip to experience.

"Chloe" Seminar Audition Day

Back to march 2008, Chris suggested to make movie and the crew members joined this project are Nick, Amy, Jayden, Albert and Ryan. We did our planning for around half year before we start our shooting. We started our first shooting in Nov 2008 finished in Oct 2009. From the encouraged and supported of everyone make "Chloe" happened to complete.

Meng Chin Visited Brunei

Finally Meng Chin and her bf came to visit brunei from KL. Its is nice memory for me as well when their visit on 14-16/ 09/2009 because its my first time that got friends from overseas visit me and i get the chance to took photo of Brunei as well. I know Meng Chin when i studied at KL in 2005 and guess what? She was my housemates and Lecturer.

I still remember the first day i met her at college, she asked me where is brunei? OMG~ I really dont know how i suppose to answer her at that moment. Few weeks later, we became housemates somemore and i always asked them to visit Brunei and they will find out how interesting Brunei is. Haha! Hope they enjoy their trip in Brunei...
